PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Public Utilities is rescinding its Stage 1 Voluntary Water Conservation Alert effective Friday, Oct. 16, 2026.

This notice does not apply to properties that use water sources outside of the County’s public water system (i.e., private groundwater wells, retention ponds, and Brunswick Regional – H2GO). H2GO customers should check their website for information about any water conservation or best practices they may have issued for their customers: h2gonc.gov

This conservation alert was originally issued Aug. 31, 2026. Recent rainfall, improving drought conditions, and the public’s efforts to use water wisely have helped even out demands for water from Brunswick County’s available production and distribution capacity.

Brunswick County appreciates the efforts our water customers took to follow our mandatory and voluntary water restrictions while Extreme Drought (D3) and Exceptional Drought (D4) conditions affected our county this summer.

Water conservation notices are not uncommon for this time of year. Water systems typically see higher demands in late spring and throughout summer due to the heat, increased irrigation demands, and the peak tourism season.

If drier weather conditions return, additional alerts could be issued. Brunswick County continues to monitor its system levels and will notify residents in the event another water conservation alert is necessary.

Customers are encouraged to continue to use water wisely and maintain the recommended irrigation schedule as follows:

  • Properties with odd-numbered addresses (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) and non-addressed facilities are encouraged to irrigate anytime during the following 8-hour periods:
    • From 8 PM on Tuesday through 4 AM Wednesday
    • From 8 PM on Thursday through 4 AM Friday
    • From 8 PM on Saturday through 4 AM Sunday
  • Properties with even-numbered addresses (ending in 2, 4, 6, 8, 0) are encouraged to irrigate anytime during the following 8-hour periods:
    • From 8 PM on Wednesday through 4 AM Thursday
    • From 8 PM on Friday through 4 AM Saturday
    • From 8 PM on Sunday through 4 AM Monday
